Light, agile and strong, these bikes are designed for racing. More clearance, stickier tyres, stronger braking
braking systems and lower ratios allow these bikes to go where their road going cousins wouldn't dare... that is,
if your body can take the abuse!
The all round, on road, off road ability of the cyclo-cross means that they are not just suitable for tearing across country trying to edge ahead of the pack, you can use them to ride along with the kids when they go mountain biking or to get to work, even if you work as a crofter!
Featured Cross Bikes
Though we no longer maintain our product catalogue online, we have chosen a small selection of our recommendations to feature on the website, which you will find below, along with a link to the manufacturers product specification.
Giant TCX 3
The entry level model in the Giant cross line up is the TCX 3 and it is a firm favourite back at Breeze Towers for all of the right reasons. It has good mud clearance, powerful cantilever brakes, solid wheels and a neutral riding position. With the added feature of a triple chain-set that results in a huge range of gears, this bike will adapt to touring or the commute to work.
There is a standard range of mount points, allowing pannier racks and mudguards to be fitted to the bike. This bike will go pretty much anywhere you want to take it, a true all terrain machine, and yours for only £695!
Surly Cross Check
The cross check is available as a frame only, or a complete bike, and the custom build option is always very appealing to customers. The frame is steel so gives the rider a comfortable ride with very little road shock being transmitted.
Just like the TCX 3 there are mounts for mudguards and racks, but the frame is even more adaptable. You could build this up as a long distance touring machine, cross bike, single speeder or even a fixie! There are very few manufacturers that can offer that range of uses from a single frame.
Giant TCX Avdanced SL
For the ultimate in performance enabling technology, the TCX Advanced XL stands at the front of the field. The standard build features a carbon frame and fork, Shimano Dura-Ace group set and wheels, making this a full on, no compromise race machine.
Rabobank rider Lars Boom rode this bike over the line in first place in the 2010 Dutch CX Championship, so we shouldn't need to tell you that this bike will match your performance whatever the conditions.
